Community Services Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1989.
The Foundation was formed to generate revenue for programs to serve people with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Successful annual fundraising events were coordinated by Community Services Foundation and benefitted Southwest Community Services, Inc. (SCS) to supplement their Illinois state funding. Events such as golf outings, bowl-a-thons, and dinner dances enabled the
Foundation to provide funding for special projects at SCS. For example, air conditioning was
installed in the Tinley Park Workshop community lunchroom, and recreational facilities for
consumers were added at both the SCS Developmental Training Program and Community Enterprises.
In the late nineties, Community Services Foundation broadened
its mission to accommodate the needs of consumers in the community.
In 2000, Community Services Foundation purchased Charleston Transitional Facility (CTF). The addition of
community integrated living arrangement homes (CILAs) and additional day programs round out the services
supported by the Foundation.
Going forward, Community Services Foundation will continue to explore opportunities for investment in programs
that provide additional services and benefits to consumers with mental and developmental
disabilities in communities throughout Illinois.
