How Funds Are Spent

Making A Difference . . . Making A Match
Community Services Foundation's successful Making A Difference . . . Making A Match program provided dollar for dollar matching funds for donations made to Charleston Transitional Facility (CTF) and Southwest Community Services (SCS). CTF and SCS used these funds for purchases that otherwise would not have been possible.

CTF Donations
The CTF Making A Difference . . . Making A Match program donations and matching funds were used to replenish the Individual Assistance Fund (IAF). The IAF was created to fund the purchase of equipment, services, and experiences that individuals cannot afford independently. A committee comprised of management staff, direct care staff, and one person who receives services evaluates the funding requests to ensure that no other source of funding exists (i.e. Public Aid). After careful consideration, the committee elected to finance the following:

  • Eye surgery not covered by insurance
  • Eyeglasses
  • Uninsured dental/medical expenses
  • Pharmacy co-payments
  • Community outings
  • Ladies Club luncheon/dinner
  • Men's Club luncheon/dinner
  • Vacation for residents
  • YMCA memberships
  • Excercise equipment
  • Attorneys fees for individual guardianship
  • Furniture

SCS Donations
The SCS Making A Difference . . . Making A Match program donations and matching funds were used to make much needed technology improvements. The technology will be used in the administration of programs and by people receiving services from SCS.

  • New database server for housing the developmental training (DT) and mental illness (MI) programs. They allow SCS better access to client program data while meeting all the requirements of the Illinois Department of Health and Human Services.
  • The purchase of a new Human Service Management System database.
  • The internal development of a new Mental Health database.
  • Four new computer systems for the consumer computer lab.
